In past, fractures,dislocation and diseases of the bones and joints were mostly treated by general surgeons. Gradually,when orthopedic surgeons came to iran, orthopedic surgeries have been known to people and bone and joint diseases, as well as fractures and dislocation have been treated by these specialists since the late 40's. An orthopedic surgeon treats patients with bone, joints and spine diseases. These diseases include fractures, deformities, congenital and acquired paralysis, repair of perineal and peripheral nerves and treatment of bone tumors.
